Chalker and Maplewood are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Chalker's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.
Chalker's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Lordstown with a sharp 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Gabby Hromada made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chalker let Abby Grimm and Kelsey Kren run wild. Grimm went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Kren went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs Kren has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Ashcraft, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Chalker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Maplewood unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 4-1 to Mathews. The contest marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Maplewood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleesia Woomer, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Chalker pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Maplewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.
Chalker's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Maplewood, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chalker continue to outrun the ball?
Chalker couldn't quite get it done against Maplewood when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
