The Fremont Silverwolves will square off against the Mountain Ridge Sentinels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Fremont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Fremont struggled with threes on Tuesday (Skyridge had 500% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Fremont fell just short of Skyridge by a score of 50-47. Fremont has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Fremont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Syncere Langston, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Ama Herrick, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge made easy work of American Fork on Thursday and carried off a 64-40 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mountain Ridge.
Mountain Ridge found their leader in underclassman Kya Newton, who scored 23 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Newton has scored at least 25% of Mountain Ridge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Maynard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Fremont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mountain Ridge, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Fremont beat Mountain Ridge 73-65 in their previous meeting back in February. Will Fremont repeat their success, or does Mountain Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
