The Parkway South Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Hazelwood East 49-45. While losing is never fun, Parkway South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Hazelwood East is ranked 105th).
Despite the defeat, Parkway South had strong showings from Eddie Ahearn, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Parker Wolf, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ross Mcculla, who scored four points along with two steals and two blocks.
Parkway South has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Hazelwood East, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkway South has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hazelwood West at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Parkway South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for Hazelwood East, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pattonville at 5:30 p.m.
