Oakmont barely beat Colfax the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Falcons 13-3 on Monday. Considering the Vikings have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
McKenna Dutto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Chloe Gomes was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Stella Verber was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Oakmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in four consecutive matches.
