Football Recap: Kent Denver Skates Past Aspen with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kent Denver). They blew past the Aspen Skiers, posting a 49-19 victory. Considering the Sun Devils have won three matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Yianni Balafas produced another solid performance throwing for 263 yards and one TD, while also rushing for 41 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kent Denver was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Kent Denver didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Colton Meade, Kase Fowler, and Matthias Brown picked up one apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Aspen lost on Friday, don't look at Dylan Mika. Despite the final result, he rushed for 196 yards and one touchdown. Mika's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 115 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Kent Denver pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.3 points over those games. As for Aspen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kent Denver will welcome Hinkley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Sun Devils will be up against the Thunder's rather soft defense (which has allowed 67.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Aspen, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moffat County at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
