The Neillsville Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Bangor Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Neillsville had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.3 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They blew past Spencer 59-17 at home. Given Neillsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Spencer is ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Bangor entered their tilt with Necedah with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Bangor blew past Necedah, posting a 57-30 victory on the road.
Neillsville is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Bangor, their win bumped their record up to an identical 19-3.
Neillsville was able to grind out a solid win over Bangor in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 47-39. Will Neillsville repeat their success, or does Bangor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
