West Davidson has won four straight games at home, while North Davidson has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. Hannah Rollins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, West Davidson let Gracie Michael and Meghan Leonard run wild. Michael went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Leonard went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Michael is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, North Davidson's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Reagan by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.
North Davidson also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Rileigh Barker gave up just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, North Davidson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
West Davidson's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for North Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
West Davidson's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Dragons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for North Davidson, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will West Davidson continue to outrun the ball?
