Aaron Philo of
Prince Avenue Christian (Athens) experienced a storybook end to his high school football career Monday. The senior signal caller led his team to Georgia's Class A Division 1 title and in the process broke Trevor Lawrence's state record for most passing yards in a career.
Philo needed 301 yards to surpass Lawrence's career total of 13,902 and got it when sophomore
C.J. Dockery caught a 7-yard touchdown with less than three minutes to play in a 49-32 win over Swainsboro.
Coming off a 490-yard passing performance in Prince Avenue Christian's semifinal victory, Philo topped 300 yards Monday with three touchdown passes and two more on the ground to help the Wolverines win back-to-back titles.

Philo has thrown for 300 yards or more in a game 26 times in his career. He topped 400 yards six times and had a 554-yard performance as a sophomore.
Headed to Georgia Tech, Philo has thrown a touchdown pass in every game over the past three seasons. After throwing for 188 yards as a freshman backing up five-star quarterback prospect Brock Vandagriff in 2020, he became the starter in 2021 and never took his foot off the gas.
Philo threw for at least 4,500 yards in each of his three years as a starter and tallied 159 passing touchdowns, third in state history behind Gunner Stockton and Lawrence. He tied the state record for single-season TD passes with 56 on his final throw.
A dynamic runner, Philo ripped off several big gains on the ground in the title game. He wrapped up his career with 32 rushing touchdowns and nearly 1,200 yards on the ground.
