The Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 72-18 victory over Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall. With Rocky Hill Country Day ahead 44-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Leading Rocky Hill Country Day to victory were Addison Mahar and Dariia Serednytska. Mahar dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Serednytska dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliona Nikulina, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Rocky Hill Country Day's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky Hill Country Day will challenge MacDuffie at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Academy at Penguin Hall at 4:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
