Mojave extended the longest winning streak in 8-Man Freelance (8 Man) this week by beating Lancaster Baptist, 63-43. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Calvary Chapel and Faith Baptist played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Calvary Chapel eventually emerging with a 44-38 victory. Nathan Jewell threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 18 yards in the win.
The Grizzlies' Jewell and Zechariah Laidlaw have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jewell has thrown for 1977 yards this season, while Laidlaw, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 39 catches for 715 yards. Robert Reed from Orcutt Academy leads the league in rushing with 822 yards.
Going into this week's game against Desert Christian Academy, Calvary Chapel's Jewell needs 23 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
Mojave made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 209 from 269. The improvement came about via a 63-43 victory over the Eagles last week.
