Softball Game Preview: Dobie Longhorns vs. Shadow Creek Sharks

The Dobie Longhorns will square off against the Shadow Creek Sharks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Dobie barely beat Pasadena Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dobie blew past Pasadena Memorial 16-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Vanessa De La Fuente looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Natalie De Hoyos was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Alexis Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Dobie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shadow Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Dawson 12-11. Considering the Sharks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Dobie has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. Shadow Creek's victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Dobie was able to grind out a solid win over Shadow Creek in their previous meeting back in March, winning 11-7. Does Dobie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shadow Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
