On Thursday, Richton suffered a rough 60-38 loss at the hands of Hattiesburg. While losing is never fun, Richton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Hattiesburg is ranked 15th).
Hattiesburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Moody, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Logan Burns, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Richton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Hattiesburg, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Richton will head out on the road to face off against Mize at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hattiesburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sumrall at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. Sumrall is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
