Baseball Game Preview: North Delta Green Wave vs. Lee Academy Colts

North Delta is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to challenge the Lee Academy Colts at 4:00 p.m. North Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

North Delta easily dispatched Tishomingo County on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. North Delta fell just short of Clinton by a score of 10-8 on Tuesday.

Herron Williams and Owens Johnson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Williams went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Johnson scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Johnson has become a key player for North Delta: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Lee Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 11-1 to Marshall Academy.

Lee Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for North Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Everything went North Delta's way against Lee Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as North Delta made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Delta since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
