The Roxboro Community Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Two weeks ago, Roxboro Community opened the new year with a less-than-successful 43-38 defeat to they. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Vance Charter is ranked 145th).
Roxboro Community's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katherine-kaey "katie" Mann, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Karrie Obie who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Mann has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nancy Carver, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Excelsior Classical Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 62-4 loss at the hands of Vance Charter. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Excelsior Classical Academy has suffered since November 15, 2023.
Roxboro Community's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
