Football Recap: Carpinteria Piles Up the Points Against Santa Clara

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Paula, Carpinteria was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 55-6 win over the Santa Clara Saints. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Carpinteria was led to victory by Chris Jaimes and Isaac Neri. Jaimes gained 98 total yards and three touchdowns, while Neri rushed for 57 yards and one score on only five carries. Another big playmaker for the Warriors was Drew Filippini, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Carpinteria, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Filippini, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Carpinteria moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Santa Clara, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
