The Reserve Mountaineers's eight-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They secured a 52-47 W over Animas. The victory was just what Reserve needed coming off of a 61-12 defeat in their prior game.
When it comes to explaining why Animas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Diego Renteria. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 0 assists. Renteria is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Tallon Marble was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and five steals.
Reserve's win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-14. As for Animas, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Reserve will square off against Quemado at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Quemado will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Animas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Magdalena at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Magdalena knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Animas likes a good challenge.
