Basketball Recap: St. Cloud Comes Up Short

St. Cloud was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Parkview Panthers, falling 84-51.

When it comes to explaining why St. Cloud lost, don't look at Diomar Ortiz. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points along with six boards and four steals. Ortiz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was JJ Barrett, who had 11 points.

Leading Parkview to victory were Brandon Pemberton and Jason Brown. Pemberton went 6-for-13 to rack up 21 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds, while Brown shot 82% from the field on his way to 19 points. Brown has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least 15 points, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Pemberton, who earned 13 points.

St. Cloud's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Parkview, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6 record.

St. Cloud didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-73 win against Mars on the 30th. As for Parkview, they have also already played their next matchup, a 75-59 victory against King's Academy on the 30th.
