Kye Jacobs made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Clinton Prairie's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Harshbarger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Edwards, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Western Boone entered their tilt with Tri-West Hendricks on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 8-4.
Gavin Hawkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases. Quinn Westerfeld was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Clinton Prairie's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Western Boone, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
