Northgate is 1-9 against Clayton Valley Charter since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Broncos will venture away from home to face off against the Ugly Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Clayton Valley Charter took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Northgate, who comes in off a win.
Northgate had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Acalanes on Thursday. The Broncos put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 14-5 victory. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.
Mackenzie Hudson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Addison Baxter was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Jillian Neil was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Clayton Valley Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of College Park by a score of 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Camdyn Alton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
Clayton Valley Charter's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-6-1. As for Northgate, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Northgate came up short against Clayton Valley Charter in their previous meeting back in April, falling 7-2. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
