The Roxboro Community Bulldogs were the 41-29 winner over the Eno River Bobcats when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Roxboro Community fell just short of Eno River by a score of 49-47. Roxboro Community has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Karrie Obie and Katherine-kaey "katie" Mann certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Obie dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds, while Mann scored 20 points. Obie is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played.
Eno River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Olson, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Olson scored 15 or more points. Ava Hill was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Roxboro Community's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Eno River, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roxboro Community will challenge Excelsior Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eno River will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Clover Garden School at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Eno River's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Clover Garden School's offense will have their work cut out for them.
