Norfolk will look to defend their home turf on Thursday against Pius X at 7:00 PM. The odds don't look promising for Norfolk, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.
After having lost a blowout in their match two weeks ago against Bellevue West, Norfolk were happy to find some success last Friday. Norfolk skirted past Omaha Central 17-14. Junior Jace Monday, who picked up 58 yards on the ground and accumulated 161 passing yards, was a major factor in Norfolk's success. If you haven't heard Monday's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past three games.
Meanwhile, Pius X might have drawn first blood against Lincoln Southeast last Thursday, but it was Lincoln Southeast who got the last laugh. Pius X fell to Lincoln Southeast 14-21. The matchup was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Pius X were outplayed the rest of the way.
Norfolk's win lifted them to 3-4 while Pius X's defeat dropped them down to 3-4. We'll see if Norfolk's success rolls on or if Pius X are able to steal their positive momentum.
