Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in
high school basketball. America's source for high school sports
continues the tradition to close out the 2022-23 season by naming the
top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and
individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Koa Peat of
Perry (Gilbert) is the 2022-23 MaxPreps Arizona High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-8 sophomore forward led the Pumas to a record of 30-1 and their second consecutive state championship.
Peat averaged 19.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals while shooting 64.9 percent from inside the arc, 23 percent from 3-point range and 70 percent from the field.
