Softball Recap: Orem Beats Timpview for Their Third Straight Win

Orem entered their tilt with Timpview on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 19-4 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kailey Pay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hannah Maylett was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two home runs, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andlie Allen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.

Orem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Orem pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Timpview, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orem will venture away from home to square off against Timpanogos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Timpanogos will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Orem surely won't give up without a fight. As for Timpview, they will square off against Spanish Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
