Defiance has gone a perfect 5-0 against Fairview recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Apaches at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Defiance 2.7, Fairview 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Saturday, Defiance came up short against Fort Wayne Snider and fell 8-5. The loss was the Bulldogs' first of the season.
Brady Borton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Logan Hutcheson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fairview had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. Everything went their way against the Rockets as they made off with a 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Zane Timbrook, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Mack, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fairview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pandora-Gilboa only posted an OBP of .316.
Fairview pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Defiance, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 20-1.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Defiance has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. However, it's not like Fairview struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Defiance took their victory against Fairview in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-8 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Apaches turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
