The Eastern Musketeers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 71-35 loss at the hands of Silver Creek. While losing is never fun, Eastern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Silver Creek is ranked 83rd).
Leading Silver Creek to victory were Brandon Hunter and Hayden Garten. Hunter dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 assists, while Garten scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Garten scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasen Daeger, who scored 14 points.
Eastern has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Silver Creek, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Eastern won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Austin on January 6th. One thing working in Austin's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Silver Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
