The Silverado Skyhawks can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Green Valley with a 42-36 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Silverado also won the last time the pair played back in January.
It was another big night for Kingsley Jones, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Timia Thomas was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Green Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gianessa Vazquez. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 55.6% of Green Valley's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Silverado's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Green Valley, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.
Silverado will head out on the road to take on the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Doral Academy Red Rock comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Green Valley, they will be playing at home against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Rancho is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
