Baseball Recap: Lena-Winslow Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Lena-Winslow barely beat River Ridge/Scales Mound the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lena-Winslow blew past River Ridge/Scales Mound 10-0 on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Maverick Cass was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luke Madigan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Landon Grindey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lena-Winslow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Lena-Winslow pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Lena-Winslow will be playing in front of their home fans against Alleman at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Alleman will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, they will head out to take on Annawan-Wethersfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
