The South View Tigers won against the Seventy-First Falcons last Tuesday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. South View managed a 57-52 victory over the Falcons. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South View.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nahmiah Aekins, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Aekins hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayla Blue, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Seventy-First lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kariana Williams, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Williams hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariyah Massey, who scored eight points along with six steals and five rebounds.
South View's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Seventy-First, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
South View will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Douglas Byrd has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Seventy-First, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th.
