Avalon will head out to face off against Mildred at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mildred took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Avalon, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Avalon was able to grind out a solid win over Non Varsity Opponent, taking the game 12-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Rayden Mendez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Avalon is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Mendez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, John De La Garza was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Josh Novak, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mildred's good fortune finally ran out last Monday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cayuga. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mildred's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Avalon, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
