Softball Recap: Magee Wins Going Away Against Hazlehurst

Magee won against Hazlehurst on Tuesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Magee was the clear victor by a 16-4 margin over Hazlehurst. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-3 on Tuesday.

Marli Parker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maycie Smith was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Zylynda Funches was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4.

Magee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Magee's record now sits at 3-4. As for Hazlehurst, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Magee will challenge Seminary at 6:30 p.m. on the 27th. As for Hazlehurst, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Murrah at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
