Oran will challenge East Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Oran took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over Woodland. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Allie Graviett made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven games. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Forhand, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matchups. Another player making a difference was Addison Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, East Prairie strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Portageville.
Like Oran, East Prairie also got a great game from a two-way player: Jonna Rice. On the mound, she tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Rice was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, East Prairie let Addi Aters and Raleigh Cogdill run wild. Aters went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Cogdill went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Bright, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
East Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portageville only posted a batting average of .250.
The win got Oran back to even at 7-7. As for East Prairie, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
