Section 3 Class AA 1 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Auburn moved up to 242 from 271 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 3 Class AA 1. The Maroons were able to make the jump by falling to Fayetteville-Manlius 11-0.
Baker extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Proctor, 40-32. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
The Raiders' dynamic duo of Nico Dorsagno and Lawrence Elliott proved tough for Baker to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dorsagno threw for 102 yards and one touchdown and Elliott had 62 yards receiving. Chris Simmons helped Proctor's passing attack out by catching two balls for 36 yards.
Tyler Rouse was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 275 yards on 39 carries as Carl Sanfillipo's team lost to Carl Sanfillipo's team. Teammate Cole Burchill added to the ground attack by rushing for four yards.
Jerry Fiorini's team's Jordan Treen and Simmons have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Section 3 Class AA 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Treen has thrown for 1330 yards this season, while Simmons, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 25 catches for 558 yards. The Bees' Rouse leads the league in rushing yards with 2232.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Fayetteville-Manlius takes on second place Baker. The Hornets topped Auburn last week, while Baker bested the Raiders.
Liverpool led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Rome Free Academy.
