Keefe Tech extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Blackstone-Millville Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 two weeks ago.
Jaxon Fertel was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Fertel was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Fertel is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Joey Secatore made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. JC Vivieca was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Blackstone-Millville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly two runs.
Like Keefe Tech, Blackstone-Millville also got a great game from a two-way player: Zack Bell. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Bell a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Lao Pe?a-Montero was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Cardarelli, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Coming up, Keefe Tech will square off against Leicester at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blackstone-Millville, they will challenge St. Bernard's Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
