The Homer Mariners are taking a road trip to challenge the Palmer Moose at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Homer's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Palmer's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Homer nor Redington made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Mariners sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Huskies. Winning may never get old, but the Mariners sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Clyde Clemens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 17 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Homer's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Steven Burns, who went 1-for-4 with one double. Benjamin Engebretsen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Palmer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Monroe Catholic 9-3 on Friday. With that win, the Moose brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Logan Gavin and Jackson Combs were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gavin tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Combs didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At bat, Gavin went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run, while Combs went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Timothy Bridgman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Craner, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
The victory got Palmer back to even at 2-2. As for Homer, their record now sits at 4-1-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Homer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Palmer struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Homer beat Palmer 5-2 when the teams last played back in June of 2025. Do the Mariners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Moose turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
