The Pee Dee Academy Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Florence Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pee Dee Academy never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Northwood Academy last Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 31-30 photo finish over the Chargers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Pee Dee Academy as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pee Dee Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miles Trussell, who punched in a rushing score, and also picked up 76 receiving yards. Colby Richardson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 104 receiving yards, while also throwing for 162 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Florence Christian got themselves on the board against First Baptist School on Thursday, but First Baptist School never followed suit. They blew past the Hurricanes, posting a 34-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Florence Christian, who have now won four matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Juels I huntley, who rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. I huntley was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Cody Wallace, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Pee Dee Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Florence Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Pee Dee Academy barely slipped by Florence Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 36-35. Does Pee Dee Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Florence Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
