The Sapulpa Chieftains are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Memorial Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Sapulpa got the win against the Lions by a conclusive 63-38. The victory was just what Sapulpa needed coming off of a 64-43 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, even though McAlester scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Memorial still came out on top. Memorial took their game against the Buffaloes 70-58. Given Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Memorial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Love, who scored 19 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Love has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaden Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Sapulpa now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Sapulpa ended up a good deal behind the Chargers when the teams last played back in January, losing 55-41. Can Sapulpa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
