West Craven is 2-0 against North Pitt since October of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The West Craven Eagles will be playing at home against the North Pitt Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
West Craven had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Greene Central by a score of 35-28. Given West Craven's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Greene Central is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Craven got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Malik Brown out in front who gained 122 total yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmie West jr, who picked up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, North Pitt got themselves on the board against Washington on Friday, but Washington never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pam Pack 42-0 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as North Pitt just coasted through the last quarter.
North Pitt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Juhron Clemmons, who rushed for 121 yards on only 14 carries. Clemmons is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Famous Wilson was another key contributor, throwing for 214 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped West Craven to 6-2 and North Pitt to 5-3.
West Craven was able to grind out a solid win over North Pitt in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 26-14. Will West Craven repeat their success, or does North Pitt have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
