The Snowflake Lobos are taking a road trip to challenge the Valley Christian Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Snowflake was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Winslow on Tuesday. The Lobos were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Bulldogs. The Lobos haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Kyler Matthews made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Skip Bawden and Aaden Coor did most of the damage at the plate: Bawden scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Coor scored two runs while going 5-for-5. Bawden is becoming a predictor of Snowflake's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Jaxon Merrill also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian entered their tilt with Apache Junction on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Prospectors. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly ten runs.
Carson Grier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Caleb Danzeisen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Valley Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Valley Christian pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Snowflake, their record now sits at 11-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Snowflake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
