The Homestead Broncos were the 66-64 winner over the Miami Beach Hi-Tides when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Homestead took a 60-46 bruising from Miami Beach on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Homestead has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Homestead saw an underclassman step up: Rodney Holmes dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Holmes hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Rodriguez, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Homestead's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Miami Beach, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Homestead won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Archbishop Carroll at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Archbishop Carroll will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 577th, while Homestead is ranked 211th). As for Miami Beach, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Booker T. Washington at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
