The Barrington Eagles are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the Mt. Hope Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Barrington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.
Barrington made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Portsmouth, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Kendall Fisher (2025) made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She also allowed five hits, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Grace Fontaine and Ariana Renzi (2025) did most of the damage at the plate: Fontaine scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Renzi (2025) scored two runs while going 1-for-1. That stolen base marked the first that Fontaine snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Conaty (2025), who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Barrington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Mt. Hope was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Lincoln, falling 19-4.
Macie Comeau and Hailey Ferriera did some serious damage despite the final result: Comeau went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Ferriera scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Mt. Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Barrington, their record is now 3-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Barrington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .490. However, it's not like Mt. Hope struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Barrington suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Mt. Hope when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
