This was payback for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, who suffered a 53-39 loss the last time these two teams met.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge found their leader in underclassman Rena Rasmussen, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rasmussen has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaida Eriksen, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Wakefield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lutheran-Northeast at 6:15 p.m. on February 6th. Lutheran-Northeast will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is ranked 96th). Wakefield will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Winnebago at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Winnebago is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
