Softball Recap: Bloom Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bloom came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Thornton Wildcats as they made off with a 17-1 win. The Blazing Trojan might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by seven runs or more this season.

Jordynn Witzel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.

At the plate, Allison Ortiz-Torres and Josie Robles did most of the damage at the plate: Ortiz-Torres went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Robles went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Estrada, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Bloom always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .552 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

The victory got Bloom back to even at 14-14. As for Thornton, they dropped their record down to 0-20 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Bloom has already played their next contest, a 13-1 loss against Homewood-Flossmoor on the 16th. Thornton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
