After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sand Point, the Birchwood Christian Warriors were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They came out on top against Non Varsity Opponent by a score of 36-28. This was a revenge match for Birchwood Christian, as the team was forced to settle for a 31-25 defeat when these two played two weeks ago.
Leading Birchwood Christian to victory were Leia West and Elise Becker. West dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds, while Becker dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Becker scored 15 or more points.
Birchwood Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Non Varsity Opponent, their defeat dropped their record down to 113-214.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Birchwood Christian will take on Cook Inlet Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Birchwood Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will be playing at home against Glennallen at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Glennallen will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Non Varsity Opponent surely won't give up without a fight.
