The Cypress Christian Warriors will face off against Geneva at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Christian will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
Cypress Christian can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match two weeks ago. They breezed by Bay Area Christian at home to the tune of 50-7. Given Cypress Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Bay Area Christian is ranked 922nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Geneva had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past Brentwood Christian with points to spare, taking the game 31-14. The victory was just what Geneva needed coming off of a 74-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Jacob Rosenstiel went supernova for Geneva, rushing for 266 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 156 yards and two touchdowns. KP Fitzgerald was another key contributor, picking up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cypress Christian has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 7-3 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.6 points per game. As for Geneva, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cypress Christian against Geneva when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 44-14 win. Does Cypress Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Geneva turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
