The Woodlake Tigers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Alpaugh 38-35.
Leading Woodlake to victory were Mario Jimenez and Joseph Avilez. Jimenez scored 9 points, while Avilez scored 9 points. Another player making a difference was Hugo Cruz, who scored 6 points.
Defeat or not, Alpaugh got some senior leadership from Luis Vasquez who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals and Jesus Nunez who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals.
Woodlake's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Alpaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodlake will face off against Del Oro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Del Oro comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Alpaugh's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wonderful College Prep Academy at 5:15 p.m. on November 30th.
