McCallie has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, McCallie earned a 45-35 win over Ensworth. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points McCallie has scored all year.
McCallie can attribute much of their success to Ryan Wingard, who scored 13 points, and Parker Robison, who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Robison has scored at least 25% of McCallie's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenneth Chime, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, even though LEAD Academy scored an imposing 65 points back in November, Christ Presbyterian Academy still came out on top. Christ Presbyterian Academy enjoyed a cozy 83-65 victory over LEAD Academy. That looming 83-65 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Christ Presbyterian Academy yet this season.
Christ Presbyterian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gunnar Lewis out in front who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least 25% of Christ Presbyterian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Rowan Mactavish, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
McCallie's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Christ Presbyterian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: McCallie have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.1 threes per game. However, it's not like Christ Presbyterian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 7.5 threes per game. Given McCallie's sizeable advantage in that area, Christ Presbyterian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
