The Taylor Titans came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Western with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. For Taylor, this counts as revenge for the 44-38 defeat Western walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Taylor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Javionne Harris out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Harris hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Binnion, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Nelson, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Miller, who scored five points along with three steals.
Taylor is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Western, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor will take on Lewis Cass at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Western, they will head out on the road to square off against Maconaquah at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Maconaquah knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Western likes a good challenge.
