The Bloomingdale Bulls's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wharton Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Bloomingdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Bloomingdale earned a 38-26 victory over Armwood. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Bloomingdale has scored all season.
It was another big night for Noelle Mengel, who scored 20 points. Tabitha Vega was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Wharton waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 50-46 win over Hillsborough. Given Wharton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Hillsborough is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wharton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tamara Bryant, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sydney Hurst, who scored 17 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Bloomingdale's win was their 17th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-0. Wharton's record now sits at 19-1.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Bloomingdale have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 42.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Wharton struggles in that department as they've made 40.5% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bloomingdale couldn't quite finish off Wharton when the teams last played back in January of 2015 and fell 36-33. Can Bloomingdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
