Greenacres Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rahmello Makonnen, who went 9-for-20 to rack up 23 points. Makonnen is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was JayQuan Robinson, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 21 points and five steals.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Morningside Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 65-21 win over Pineapple Cove Classical Academy. The Eagles (Eddy) have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 38 points or more this season.
Morningside Academy's win came from a few key players Greenacres Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was AJ Chang, who posted 16 points along with five assists and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of Morningside Academy's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Jaiven Jackson was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds.
Morningside Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Greenacres Christian, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's matchup: Greenacres Christian has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 34.1% of their threes per game.
