Softball Recap: Northside Snags 14th Win in Last 16 Games

Northside gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the American Christian Academy Patriots. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Patriots last Saturday, they had to take a 6-4 loss.

Emma Piepho looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haley Lyons, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one home run.

Northside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in 11 consecutive games.

Northside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-13-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for American Christian Academy, they moved to 25-15 with that defeat, which also ended their 14-game winning streak.

Coming up, Northside is taking a road trip to square off against Demopolis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for American Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Brookwood at 4:30 p.m. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
